Representatives from the Vietnam Interior Design Association (VNIA) continued to attend and participate in key activities at Milan Design Week 2024.
Under the theme “Materia Natura” (Natural Material), Architect Vu Hong Cuong – Vice President of VNIA – and Mr. Luu Viet Thang, Chief of VNIA Central Office, visited standout product exhibition spaces from various countries. In its debut appearance at Milan Design Week, the Vietnam Pavilion left a strong and distinct impression.
The Vietnam Pavilion was inspired by the energetic and culturally rich identity of Saigon Metropolitans. It captured the essence of a modern, dynamic urban lifestyle where spatial limitations are resolved through efficient compression from the outside and expansive, optimized interiors within. The pavilion was composed of more than 400 modular wooden units combined with colorful traditional Vietnamese rattan materials, resulting in a vibrant and creative structure.
Utilizing traditional, eco-friendly natural materials, the pavilion highlighted the diversity and sustainability of Vietnamese craftsmanship through the creative vision of local architects and designers. It featured award-winning products from the Hoa Mai Design Awards, curated interior collections from Vietnamese furniture manufacturers, and handcrafted gifts and artisanal works produced by skilled Vietnamese artisans.
Vietnam Pavilion at Milan Design Week 2024 was supported by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and co-organized by ITPC and HAWA Vietnam. Spanning a total exhibition area of 360 square meters, the pavilion showcased interior and handicraft products from 35 Vietnamese enterprises. It was located at SUPERSTUDIO PIÙ, Via Tortona 27, Milan, Italy, and open for visitors from April 16 to 21, 2024.
Vice President Vu Hong Cuong and Chief of the Central Office Luu Viet Thang also attended the EDIDA 2024 Awards Ceremony held during Milan Design Week and the Salone del Mobile. The ELLE DECO International Design Awards (EDIDA), hosted by ELLE DECOR and its global network of 25 international editions, honored the most outstanding products in design and architecture. Nominees and winners across 15 categories were personally selected by the chief editors of each participating publication.
This occasion also provided a valuable opportunity for VNIA representatives to network, exchange knowledge, and share experiences in the fields of design and architecture.
